Siam Ocean World is one of the largest underground aquarium in South East Asia, exhibiting over 30, 000 aquatic creature over various regions.
I've decided to make use of the Weekday Early Bird Discount only via online booking and entering Siam Ocean World before noon on a week day. This saves me 237 baht (S$9). Do take note of their opening hours. They open at 10am and closes at 9pm.
Siam Ocean World is located in B1-B2 of Siam Paragon. You can reach Siam Paragon via sky train @ Siam station exit 5. Taking an escalator down to Siam Ocean World, you can take a photo with the huge marine life wall paper at the entrance.
The marine wildlife is much bigger than that of S.E.A Aquarium in Singapore. Anyway, here are some of the marline wild life I saw. First off, we have the King Crab. I wonder if if they're the same as the Alaskan Crab that is so delicious and expensive.
Puffer fish makes me think back on my childhood days where I went fishing with my dad at Lim Chu Kang Jetty. The area is filled with puffer fishes. They balloon themselves up making a weird "croaking" sound when threatened. They have sharp "bugs bunny" teeth just now this one.
Next, we have some beautiful tiny shrimps. I love their pale orangey pigments and the way they move. There is also some shell fishes (or is it crabs?) laying under the rocks.
The master of disguise - The Octopus. I almost mistaken it for some seaweed or plant until I saw its eyes. Too bad it just sticks around the rocks and refused to move despite my long wait. Somehow it knows I'm "hunting" it.
Siam Ocean World sure have some beautiful corals. I love the vibrant violet corals. Next, the poisonous Lion Fish seems to be greeting me with all its fins wide open or is it trying to sting me? =|
Finding Nemo! Yes, Clown Fishes! I managed to catch a decent close up shot of the orange clown fishes swimming by. I love the next photo with beautiful corals and only the orange clown fish in focus.
It's my first time catching a glimpse of different species of sea horses. If I'm not mistaken, the male sea horses give birth rather than the females. (Stop your secret fantasy. We're not sea horses HAHA!)
Last of this entry, pipefishes. As the name suggest, it looks like a tiny pipe. I love the colours it reflects from its body =)
That's all for Part I folks. Stay tune for Part II.
