Some Photographing Tips & Tricks Learnt

Bored of just taking flowers as it is - taking from the front, vertically, horizontally. So I decided to recall some of the techniques I've read from books and try them out.

I saw this sculpture and a beautiful violet orchid. I framed the orchid in the background and threw the sculpture in the foreground out of focus by using a large aperture (f/2.4). The above was the result and I love the effect.

I tried zooming into the flower, getting as close as I could to get the shot (no money for marco lens). This was what I got! It seemed a bit artificial with the black background. I added some fill light to green it out just a little.

I played around with the focus points again. The first photo focuses on the bud (bored of seeing petals). Look how your eyes get drawn to the buds. This is an effective way to tell people the story behind your photo. What actually interest you to get the shot? What are you actually portraying?

This is the first shot I took when I saw this unique tree with leaves sagging down. I did not really like that shot. The signboards and barricades showed. Furthermore, there are plants at the sides of the phto.

So, I decided to work the scene. Following what I've remembered, I took shots from top down, horizontally, vertically, going wide, going tight, moveed around a little and finally, 1 shot that I really love. Enjoy folks!
