Vervain is a herb native to the Old World. It is sometimes referred to as “Verbena.”
Vervain has long been associated with divine and other supernatural forces. Some cultures referred Vervain as "Devil's bane" which suggests that it could drive off evil spirits and believed to be effective in vampire deterrence.
Today, people grow it for both medicinal and ornamental use. They are also valued in butterfly gardening, attracting several species of butterflies and hummingbirds.
