Getaway in Penang - Chowrasta Market

Chowrasta Market has a couple of bookstores selling second hand books. You never know what treasure you might find.

At level two of Chowrasta Market, there are a couple of old booksstores and a few shops that sells clothing and slippers. The book store is packed with books! (I mean really packed!!)

The books are packed according to categories and bind together with a raffia string. The pile of books are then stacked on top of each other filling the whole shop.

There are only two narrow paths which allows us to move around the stall browsing the books. There is a wide variety of books ranging from fiction to non-fiction, engineering and inspirational books etc.

It's quite interesting to be surrounded by books. The strong scent of old books reminded me of my old cabinet which is filled with my old stuff. Sometimes, I really wonder how the owner is able to find a book that you named out.

I found some of my childhood favourites; True Singapore Ghost Stories! I used to read them when I was little. Come to think about it, some of the stories are kind of spooky.

A few streets from Chowrasta Market, there is a famous Teochew Chendol and ice kachang roadside stall. I am not a Chendol person but this is really refreshing and good!

The taste of coconut milk is not over powering. The ingredients are fresh especially their red beans which is smooth, big and crunchy. It seems like I am craving for one bowl of that now! Do try it if you are there folks!
