Getaway in Penang - Fatty Loh Chicken Rice

Fatty Loh Chicken Rice is crowned "Guang Ming King of Hainan Chicken Rice" & also been awarded as Malaysia Top 10 Hainan Chicken Rice in "Malaysia King of Hainan Chicken Rice" competition.

First lunch in Penang, Chicken Rice!! Fatty Loh Chicken Rice was recommended by our taxi driver. He mentioned that it was one of the best chicken rice in Malaysia. Not only that, we will be taken away by the restaurant itself.

Keeping in suspense, I could not help but wonder how this restaurant would be like. From the outside, it seemed like a normal coffee shop - With cooked chickens hung and other ingredients placed. Servers will busy preparing the food.

However, when we were ushered to the dining section, I was amazed! The whole restaurant was decorated with antiques. And I mean lots and lots of them. The antiques ranges from containers, tupperware to fans, statues, clocks, bicycles and even cast irons.

The food was great. The fragrance of the rice is there. The chicken skin is silky smooth and the meat tendered. The soy sauce tasted right just that it's a little oilier and saltier compared to that of Singapore's. Maybe there's why Malaysia's food tasted better? HAHA!

You would not want to miss out on the fried bean curb and the Ngoh Hiang. The bean curb is super crispy on the outside and on the inside - hot, soft and white. Yummy! Do take it with the special made chili sauce if you feel it's a little too bland for your taste.

The Nutmeg Drink is totally different from what I drank at Gurney Drive Restaurant in Singapore. This is a 100×s better!!! It's generally sour but has a sweet after taste to it and simply thirst-quenching and refreshing. Best to have it on a warm day like this.

While waiting for the food to be served, this is what we have been doing - Roaming around the restaurant and taking photographs of the antiques. Enjoy the wide variety of antiques folks =D

Lastly, behold, The title of Top 10 Chicken Rice Kings!!!! Folks, do give it a try if you happen to go on a tour to Penang =D
